Varazdin County Winemakers on 19. Decanter World Wine Awards 2022.
Varazdin County winemakers brought home an impressive 38 medals from the prestigious 19th Decanter World Wine Awards 2022 in London. A historic moment was achieved as DeMar Vinim won their first gold medal for their Grasevina 2020. Additionally, 14 winemakers from the county were awarded 12 silver and 25 bronze medals. These results were announced after a record 18,244 wine samples from 54 countries were evaluated by nearly 250 international experts over two weeks. The prefect of Varazdin County, Andelko Stricak, expressed his congratulations and pride in the winemakers' achievement, noting that their high-quality wines are the result of years of experience, knowledge, and the use of new technologies.
The highest rating received by the wines of the DeMar winery:
- Grasevina 2020. - gold, 96 points
- Pinot Gris 2020. - silver, 90 points
- Rhine Riesling 2020. - bronze, 87 points
- Muscat Ottonel 2021. - bronze, 87 points
