Nikola Tesla as an immigrant

When we talk about Tesla’s life as an immigrant, nothing alters him from “regular” people. His first contact with America was the same as any other immigrant who at first experienced it as an alien place, to quickly realize that they could not imagine living anywhere else. He stated in his autobiography that he endured rudeness upon arrival in the U.S. When he compared the artistic architecture of old Europe with modern America said that it is a century behind Europe in civilization. Only five years passed since his arrival to America when he changed his mind. “When I went abroad in 1889 – 5 years having elapsed since my arrival here [in America] – I became convinced that it was more than 100 years AHEAD of Europe and nothing has happened to this day to change my opinion.”
